Today was my first experience using iGoogle. And I think it is awesome! I began by watching tour, which walked me through how to change theme (to enjoying the beach!) and then how to add different "gadgets." The gadgets are basically websites and other tools that I use a lot or that I am interested in. It is very convenient to have all of the sites on one page so you can just click and be right to them. I like to check the weather before leaving for school and it is easy to see at the top of my page. I check my email regularly and added that to the page as well as different blogs about running, cooking websites and sites to check the news. You can edit the settings easily to decide what you want to show or how large the gadget should be on the page. Once the page was done, I used FastStone Capture to take a picture of the screen. It was simple to use and just required a quick installation. Check out my iGoogle page below or use this link:
I just started my iGoogle account today and I absolutely love it just like you. Creating it and reading your post actually made me realize that I am definitely a digital native. I read very little information on iGoogle before starting my account and I learned the site by playing around with the gadgets and settings. I like being able to see multiple things at once. I can check the weather while reading my email... I don't have to read to know what a shinning sun means!
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing. I found iGoogle to be so easy to create and so convenient to have everything in one place. I did very little reading before I created my account as well. I only ever read about using technology if I get completely stuck. I always play around with it until I figure out how to use it. Being a digital native, it is easy to relate the features of technology that we already know how to use to the features of a new one. My parents and grandparents are always shocked at how easily I can pick up a new phone, new computer, new TV service, and be able to work it without any trouble!
